The use of material requirements planning software is becoming more widespread in manufacturing businesses however they are not a panacea for all manufacturing planning problems.

The role of this software in the business needs to be clearly understood as do the limitations of such systems.

This course takes students through the basics of Material requirements planning so that they fully understand the logic.

From this base the course looks at the variables involved and how these impact upon the planning process.

The issue of capacity planning is also explored. Students are encourages to relate the coursework to their business environments

The final module looks at how students can use the coursework to improve work practices in their organisation.

A review one month after the course looks at how well the course has manged to change practices in the business.
